Learn how you can become more effective at preparing young people for success in college and the workplace.
Today’s students have an unprecedented array of options available to them after completing high school, but the path to post-secondary success is filled with uncertainty and challenges—both for young people and the adults who support them.
Post-Secondary Success: In Schools, Communities, and Families will provide a foundation for understanding the arc of post-secondary readiness, including relevant developmental psychology across the K-16 continuum. This program is designed for educators and community-based professionals who want to become more effective at preparing young people for success in college and the workplace.
Participants will learn from experts on post-secondary readiness, exploring what postsecondary readiness really looks like, how factors like race, income, and immigration status influence post-secondary opportunity, and how schools and communities can help students develop the skills and support network they need to achieve their long-term goals.

This four-day program will help you bridge the gap between research on postsecondary success and your own practice.
You will explore the latest research and learn practical strategies for improving post-secondary transitions, including how to leverage families, financial aid resources, and on-campus student support systems. You will have a chance to collaborate with colleagues who are working on similar issues and ample time to reflect on your own practice.
You’ll return home ready to help students make well-informed decisions about their post-secondary plans and to supply them with the support they need to achieve more positive outcomes.
Mandy Savitz-Romer is an expert on school counseling and the conditions that are critical to effective practice, and she writes and speaks extensively on college and career readiness.
