Magazine Harvard EdCast: Immigration Policy's Impact on Education Posted September 11, 2013 By Matt Weber Implemented in the United States a little over one year ago, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program provides an opportunity for undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. as children to remain in the country without fear of deportation, and allows them more opportunities in the areas of work and education. Assistant Professor Roberto Gonzales' current research explores the effect of DACA, as well as the program's implementation in schools and community based organizations. In this edition of the EdCast, Gonzales, one of the nations leading experts on undocumented immigrant youth and young adults, discusses DACA and the impact of immigration policy as it relates to educational success in our country.
