Huan-Tang Lu is a lecturer in Human Development and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He teaches graduate courses related to school counseling. He is a licensed professional counselor, school counselor, approved clinical supervisor, registered play therapist, and registered nurse. As a holistic professional counselor and supervisor, Lu has worked in various settings, including schools, universities, rehabilitation centers, and private practice. His clinical expertise encompasses common social-emotional learning challenges youth face.
Lu's scholarly pursuits and practical work focus on mental health in educational settings. He developed an innovative approach involving non-clinical language to foster a robust support network for children from marginalized backgrounds. To increase access to mental wellness, he also founded and coordinated a social-emotional learning training clinic that extended its services to various educational settings in New Jersey. In addition, he frequently writes and presents about immigrant mental health, drawing from his extensive research and clinical experiences. His work focuses on supporting immigrant parents, fostering healthy parent-child relationships, and assisting immigrant students in educational settings. Lu's influence extends beyond the classroom, as he serves on various boards in professional organizations and offers consultation to educational institutions and communities.
