Admissions & Aid
To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Education: Quantitative Research Methods, eligible applicants must submit all required documents online, including academic transcripts and letters of recommendation, by the application deadline of January 5, 2027.
The Graduate Certificate in Education: Quantitative Research Methods is a second-year program designed for current HGSE Ed.M. students (graduating in May 2027) or HGSE alums (graduation years of '24, '25 and '26) who have completed the courses S040, S030 or an equivalent course while enrolled at HGSE and wish to further deepen their expertise in applied research methods and education data analysis. Building on the foundation of the Ed.M., the certificate provides advanced training in quantitative methodologies — including statistical modeling, causal inference, and the use of large-scale education data — equipping graduates to conduct rigorous, evidence-based research and evaluation in education settings. Applicants must be current HGSE Ed.M. students or recent HGSE alumni in good standing.
Note: Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this program. This graduate certificate is not financial aid eligible, and it is not eligible for Harvard's TAP tuition benefits.

The length and format of your résumé or C.V. is up to your discretion.
One letter of recommendation from an HGSE faculty member is required.
You are required to upload transcripts from each postsecondary institution that you have attended showing all undergraduate and graduate work (including non-degree classes) in the Academics section of the application.
At this stage of the application process, you may upload unofficial or student copies. All transcripts should show courses completed, grades received, duration of study, and degree or diploma received, if applicable.
Please keep in mind that you will need to provide official transcripts (and translations, if applicable) for verification, should you be admitted. HGSE reserves the right to withdraw an admissions offer if there is a discrepancy between the uploaded version and the official original transcript and/or the official translation.
The HGSE Admissions team will work with the Registrar's Office to obtain your HGSE transcripts on your behalf.

Harvard University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this program.
If an international student is currently on OPT or STEM OPT and they are admitted to this program, then they need to obtain advising from the Harvard International Office (HIO) about whether or not they can enroll in this part-time program.
If you are a HGSE degree holder, a Certificate of Advanced Study recipient, a voucher holder, or a Harvard employee eligible to take a course through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), you do not need to fill out this application. You should contact the HGSE Office of the Registrar to arrange to take a course as a non-degree student.
