This three-day institute is designed for sitting superintendents navigating the role amid intense change. Anchored in each superintendent’s local district goals, the program uses real cases, simulations, and examples to learn the proactive leadership skills necessary to advance positive change in a complex environment. Drawing on resources and expertise from across Harvard’s schools of education, business, and government, participants will explore how to build coalitions, exercise political skill, and lead with civic purpose. Structured follow-up support in six-monthly live Zoom sessions will help superintendents problem-solve implementation, adapt strategies to shifting local conditions, and sustain their leadership over time.

The program is designed for K-12 public school superintendents. Leaders of superintendent associations are also welcome.
