From short workshops to in-depth courses to comprehensive certificate programs, Professional Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education provides educators with a comprehensive portfolio of online programs designed to impact a variety of learning environments. Offering flexibility, job-embedded learning, and academic rigor, these online programs have allowed HGSE’s teaching and research to become widely accessible to education leaders throughout the U.S. and around the world.
2-3 Week Online Workshops
Asynchronous, facilitated, the online workshops provide opportunities for educators to explore a highly relevant key concept or practice in education in a short period of time. Topics range from Using Research to Inform Decisions, to Learning to Talk by Talking, to Educating Global Citizens, and many more. Explore the full list of online workshops here.
Asynchronous and facilitated, our in-depth online courses focus on fostering 21st century teaching and learning. Educators and instructional leaders get to learn proven strategies, tools, frameworks, and pedagogies and start the implementation process while in course. Average workload is 3 to 4 hours a week. Team participation is either required or highly recommended.
Project Zero Online Courses
Six online courses based on research done from HGSE’s world renowned research group, Project Zero. Courses promote skills for thinking, understanding, creating, and collaborating.
Differentiated Instruction Made Practical
Led by HGSE lecturer Rhonda Bondie, the course provides theory and practice for both engagement and rigor, with an emphasis on sustainability for instructors and deep, durable, and flexible learning for all students.
Professional Education currently offers three online certificate programs that address critical issues of practice for education leaders at different levels and settings. Each program contains multiple modules that combine both theory and practice. It may take a year or longer to complete all requirements to receive the certificate.
Certificate in Advanced Education Leadership (CAEL)
Modeled after HGSE’s innovative Doctor of Education Leadership(Ed.L.D.) program, CAEL helps current and aspiring system-level leaders gain the core competencies and leadership development skills necessary to create transformational change in today’s complex learning environments.
Certificate in School Management Leadership (CSML)
A collaboration between the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School, CSML provides school leaders with the management insight, frameworks, and leadership skills to enable them to drive change and lead high-performing schools.
Certificate in Early Education Leadership (CEEL)
The Certificate of Early Education Leadership (CEEL), offered through the Saul Zaentz Professional Learning Academy, is a visionary, job-embedded, online certificate program that supports the learning and development of early education leaders and provides them with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to strengthen learning environments and foster quality improvement in all early education settings.
