Think Like a Scientist

One alum's quest to teach science concepts through cooking

Kate Strangfeld, Ed.M.’22, started Bite Scized Education, a company that produces videos and supplementary curriculum for educators and parents, to link science lessons through cooking for students. The goal, she says, is to empower students to “think like a scientist” by using food and cooking.

Bite Scized Education is a marriage between Strangfeld’s passion for education and cooking.

Prior to attending the Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology Program at HGSE, she went to culinary school and also taught science for eight years. Along the way, she discovered there are many powerful lessons to learn through cooking that makes science fun and engaging for secondary students.

At Bite Scized Education, educators and parents can make use of accessible tools including videos, lesson plans, and worksheets, that explain science concepts and encourage experimentation.
