HGSE Launches the Harvard EdCast

Today, Harvard Graduate School of Education announced the launch of the Harvard EdCast. The weekly series, which will be available on the Harvard University iTunes U page, features a 15-20 minute conversation with thought leaders in the field of education from across the country and around the world. Hosted by Matt Weber, the Harvard EdCast will serve as a space for educational discourse and openness, focusing on the myriad issues and current events related to the field.

The series will launch today with a conversation with Harvard University President Drew Faust, who discusses her time as president, the opportunities and challenges currently facing the university, and how she reflects on her own journey. Upcoming EdCasts will highlight the need of global citizenship in a polarizing ideological landscape, the importance of summer reading in urban schools, the role of the university as community servant, and the argument for $320,000 a year kindergarten teachers.

The Harvard EdCast is a key element of the Ed School's social media strategy which includes weekly videos on the school's YouTube channel, the web series "Stories from Appian Way," recorded Askwith Forums, and a strong presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. With the addition of the Harvard EdCast to iTunesU, the Ed School continues to expand its new and social media presence and commitment to education within relevant and broad reaching platforms.
