News Watch the Wendy Kopp Askwith Forum Posted March 7, 2012 By News editor Wendy Kopp, chief executive officer and founder of Teach For America, came to Askwith Forums to share an update on the organization. Her talk was followed by a discussion with former Teach For America corps members currently studying at the Ed School.Teach For America, the creation of which Kopp proposed in 1989 as part of her undergraduate senior thesis, is building the movement to eliminate educational inequity in the United States by enlisting the nation’s most promising future leaders in the effort. Today more than 9,000 Teach For America corps members are in the midst of two-year teaching commitments in 43 regions across the country, reaching over 600,000 students, and nearly 24,000 alumni are working inside and outside the field of education to continue the effort to ensure educational excellence and equity. Kopp is also chief executive officer and cofounder of Teach For All, a global network which is working to accelerate and increase the impact of this model around the world.
