News Jennings Paintings on Display at Gutman Library Posted April 26, 2006 By News editor An exhibit of paintings by Marshfield artist Laura Tyron Jennings opened at HGSE's Gutman Library on April 21. The unique and colorful collection of lifescapes and personality portraits will be available for public viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 21 through May 31. This marks the first solo exhibit of Jennings work in Massachusetts.Jennings, whose work is included in the collections of author Mary Higgins Clark, musician Bruce Hornsby, and news correspondent Joan Lunden, spent her formative years in Massachusetts and has exhibited her work throughout the United States. Jennings newest series, Moments, captures life's simpler and smaller moments, and brings their quiet comfort to the foreground.Jennings paintings represent life and relationships. Each one uses a mixture of color and composition to depict the tension between tranquility and chaos."My vision assumes a downward stance and assembles all the pieces into an integrated situation, like looking down at a puzzle and trying to fit all the shapes that don't appear to fit but somehow work to make a complete scene," she said.
