Write the World

With a passion for education, David Weinstein saw the gap between the inadequate writing skills of high school students and the 21st-century demands of colleges, workplaces, and engaged citizenship. During a two-year fellowship at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative, he decided to do something about it. With help from faculty, students, and alums of HGSE, he created Write the World – a creative online educational community – to enhance the writing and critical thinking skills of high school students. Driven by the belief that strong writing skills give voices to young people, Weinstein is building a vibrant global community where young voices can be heard on a diverse range of subjects. Write the World supports both educators and students to establish regular writing routines, and improve writing and thinking skills.

In this edition of the Harvard EdCast, Weinstein shares his vision for helping students develop the writing strategies and communication tools essential for success in school, career, and life.
