Xin Xiang is an assistant professor at Beijing Normal University (Zhuhai campus) and a researcher at the Institute of International and Comparative Education at BNU. Hailing from Guangzhou, China, Xiang completed her undergraduate and doctoral studies at Harvard before serving as the Dean's Postdoctoral Fellow in Global Education at HGSE for two years. Her primary line of research examines the changing educational ecologies and structures of inequalities in contemporary China. She has conducted extensive ethnographic research in Chinese schools across the socioeconomic spectrum. Additionally, she is leading a multi-disciplinary international research project that systematically reviews the rapidly growing English-language academic literature on education in China. Her academic writing has appeared in influential academic journals in both Chinese and English language, including Harvard Educational Review [ENG], Human Nature Behavior [ENG], Youth Studies [CHN], and Tsinghua Journal of Education [CHN]. She has also published non-fiction pieces in both Chinese and English, such as The Grown-up Life of China's 'Bad Kids' on Sixth Tone.
