Payment
Full tuition is due by the indicated payment deadline, please refer to the program’s community and application page for the payment deadline. While a purchase order confirms enrollment, full payment is still required by the final payment deadline. Please note that failure to pay by the deadline will result in your withdrawal from the program.
We accept payment by credit card, check, and bank wire transfer. You will receive specific payment instructions as part of the confirmation process upon acceptance to a program.
The Harvard Graduate School of Education reserves the right to change faculty or cancel programs at its discretion and is not responsible for any planning expenses incurred.
Please Note: Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses and hotel accommodations for on-campus programs. Please click here for more information on hotel accommodations. The school is not responsible for non-refundable travel arrangements or other planning expenses.
Tuition Assistance
Limited tuition assistance is available for some programs and is granted based on institutional or participant need. Requests for tuition assistance have no effect on an applicant's prospects for admission. You may access the tuition assistance application after you have submitted your program application.
Refunds and Withdrawals
This section outlines our policies for withdrawal, refund, and substitution requests. If you have any questions or concerns about these policies or your ability to participate, please contact our admissions team at ppe@gse.harvard.edu.
Withdrawal and Refund Requests
Refunds for withdrawal are dependent upon the timing by which we are notified as well as the particular program to which you have applied; the two tables below outline the deadlines for withdrawal notification and the refund amount for on-campus and online programs.
On-Campus Programs | 30+ Days Before Program Start | 15-29 Days Before Program Start | Within 14 Days of Program Start |
---|---|---|---|
All Programs | Full Refund | 50% Refund | No Refund |
Withdrawals from on-campus programs must be submitted by email at least 30 days before the program start date to receive a full refund. Due to program demand and the volume of pre-program preparation, withdrawals received 15-29 days before the program start date are subject to a fee of 50 percent of the program tuition. Withdrawal notifications received within 14 days before the program start date are not eligible for refund and are subject to full payment of the program tuition.
Online Programs | 14+ Days Before Program Start | 13 Days Before Program Start | After Program Start |
---|---|---|---|
Online Programs and Certificates | Full Refund | Participant subject to 20% fee | No Refund |
Two-Week Online Programs and Webinars | No Refund | No Refund | No Refund |
Withdrawals and refunds for online programs depend upon the program type and length:
- Online programs and certificates, including Project Zero, CAEL modules, and CEEL Series, typically run 12+ weeks. Refund requests for withdrawal must be received at least two weeks before the program start, and are subject to a 20% fee if requested within 13 days before the program start. Withdrawal notifications received after the program start are not eligible for a refund.
- Given the nature of two-week online programs and webinars, including CEEL Learn modules, payment is due upon registration and is non-refundable in the event of withdrawal at any time.
Substitution Requests
Substitution requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted by email at least two weeks before the program start date. In all cases, substitutions require advance approval.

GI Bill Benefits
The US Department of Veterans Affairs recently notified us of changes in how they interpret their education benefits policy. As a result, until further notice, the programs offered by Professional Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education are not eligible for payment under Chapter 33 Post-9/11 GI Bill® or the Yellow Ribbon Program. We are no longer developing a VA-specific catalog and have removed language about VA benefit payment options from our website.
