Learning to Love or Hate

Few would argue against compassion and respect as essential ingredients to a peaceful world. But how do we foster these qualities in our children when what we are teaching is only part of the equation? How can we make sure that the lessons of compassion and acceptance aren't being buried under the hasty judgments and misinformation they are certain to encounter online? Educators, says Farah Pandith, adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, may be the key.

"There isn't any stronger platform than schools to be able to build the minds of young Americans," she says.

Visiting the Ed School last spring as part of the Askwith Forum, "Religious Freedom: Inclusion, Exclusion, and the Role of Education," Farah Pandith, sat down with the EdCast to discuss the important role of schools in matters of inclusion.
