EdCast From HGSE to the White House Posted August 19, 2015 By Matt Weber For Roberto Rodriguez, Ed.M.'98, returning to the Ed School this past May to deliver the convocation address to the HGSE class of 2015 was a privilege. Currently serving on the White House Domestic Policy Council as deputy assistant to President Obama for education, Rodriguez says that it was at the Ed School that his desire to work in education policy was crystalized through discussions and debates on the state of education with faculty and classmates, people passionate about the same issues in education that he is."I spent my year... really engaging in the work of change, the work of opening opportunities in our schools and throughout the education system for students of all ages," he says — work he continues to this day, and will be picked up by HGSE's recent graduates. "That's the unfinished business," he says.In this edition of the Harvard EdCast, Rodriguez reflects on a career that brought him from HGSE to the White House.About the Harvard EdCast The Harvard EdCast is a weekly series of podcasts, available on the Harvard University iTunes U page, that features a 15-20 minute conversation with thought leaders in the field of education from across the country and around the world.
