News HGSE Lights It Up Blue Posted April 2, 2014 By News editor The Harvard Graduate School of Education is showing its support of World Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday, April 2, by participating in the Light It Up Blue campaign. To mark its involvement, the HGSE homepage is blue and features stories about autism throughout the day. At dusk, Gutman Library on Appian Way will also be alit in blue.Now in its fifth year, Light It Up Blue is a global initiative by Autism Speaks – the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization – that encourages “iconic landmarks” to help raise awareness about the growing public health concern that is autism. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day, with the goal of bringing the world's attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions.
