HGSE Community Members Honored at AERA

Members of the Harvard Graduate School of Education community participated in and were honored at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) held from April 8-12 in New Orleans.

Professor Chris Dede was one of 31 scholars named a 2011 AERA fellow in recognition of one's exceptional scientific or scholarly contributions to education research or significant contributions to the field through the development of research opportunities and settings. The fellows are nominated by peers, selected and recommended by the Fellows Program Committee, and approved by the elected council governing AERA. The association expects fellows to be visibly engaged in important AERA programs and activities and to serve as models and mentors for the next generation of scholars.

Ed.D. candidate Angela Boatman, Ed.M.'08, received a $20,000 grant by the AERA Grants Program, funded by the National Science Foundation, for her dissertation proposal titled, "Examining the causal effects of instruction and delivery in postsecondary remedial and developmental courses: Evidence from the Tennessee Developmental Course Redesign Initiative."
