News Dean McCartney's Letter to the Community on Haiti Posted January 14, 2010 By News editor Dear Colleagues,Thanks to many of you, we have been able to reach out to those in our community who have been affected by the earthquake in Haiti. Although we do not know of any Ed School students, faculty, or staff who were in Haiti at the time of the quake, several members of our community, including family of staff members and two alums, live in Port-au-Prince. We will keep them, and all those affected by this tragedy, in our thoughts and prayers as we hope for positive news. Some of you have asked about how to make a donation to a relief effort. Our students are organizing to send donations to Partners in Health, a local organization that is well established in Haiti and has close ties to the Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. In addition, the following link provides a comprehensive list of aid organizations supporting the relief effortsThank you, again, for letting me know about those among us who are most affected by this tragedy. Please continue to let me know of others who may come to your attention.Best,Kathy News The latest research, perspectives, and highlights from the Harvard Graduate School of Education Explore All Articles Related Articles Usable Knowledge Schools and Citizenship An interview with Harvard Graduate School of Education Dean James Ryan about equity, empathy, and citizenship — and the role schools play News HGSE Launches Online Master’s in Education Leadership Transformative online Ed.M. program for experienced education professionals will expand access and bolster leadership across the sector, from preK–12 through higher ed.
