Gutman's collections represent and support the research of HGSE faculty and students. Primary focuses are educational administration and policy, elementary and secondary education, teachers and teaching, educational innovations, educational psychology, human development, language acquisition, and the history of education. These collections, searchable in HOLLIS, are supplemented by those at Harvard's 70+ libraries as well as by electronic resources on the Harvard Library E-Research website.

The collection of circulating books and non-circulating periodicals totals approximately 200,000 volumes — second floor.
Journals
Gutman currently subscribes to hundreds of journals in print, and provides online access to thousands of additional titles. Current issues — first floor. Video/Audio Tape Collection
Commercially produced video and audio tapes on topics related to education and psychology. Circulation Desk — second floor.

Gutman's Special Collections richly document the history of education.
Reference Collection
General and subject-specific reference works, including statistics, encyclopedias, handbooks, directories, etc. Non-circulating — second floor.
Dissertations, Capstones, and Qualifying Papers
HGSE doctoral candidates' theses and pre-thesis research papers. All are cataloged in HOLLIS. Dissertations from 1997 onward are also available in Dissertations and Theses Full Text (ProQuest) (HUID and PIN required) in full text. Check HOLLIS for locations.
