Office: Gutman 428
Faculty Assistant: Lee A. Marmor
Stephen Hoffman, Ed.D., is an adjunct lecturer on education at the School Leadership Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, as well as visiting assistant professor of education studies at Middlebury College. He has been at HGSE since 2009, when he was admitted as a doctoral student in Quantitative Policy Analysis in Education.
A former engineer, music teacher, and school principal, Hoffman came to HGSE to study with John Willett after 10 years as a school administrator in the Madison, WI public schools. His dissertation — "Time to Discipline: Estimating the Risks and Impact of Public-School Discipline" — analyzed disparities in school suspensions and expulsions by race, gender, and socioeconomic status, while providing an updated and more methodologically sound way of describing this phenomenon.
