Miao Li received her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Literacy Education at Queen's University in Canada. Her research focuses on cognitive, psychological, and ecological factors in learning to read and reading comprehension in both first language and second language students with and without reading difficulties, and reading intervention and remediation for struggling readers. Most of Li's research includes students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and students with language and literacy related learning difficulties. One of her ongoing projects investigates how to distinguish learning disabilities from language acquisition in English Language Learners by employing intervention and dynamic assessment.
