Kenneth Salim most recently served as Superintendent of Cambridge Public Schools, a 7,500 student school district with 1500+ staff. During his five-year tenure in Cambridge, he launched a multi-year strategic plan focused on rigorous, joyful and culturally responsive learning for all students and led equity-based initiatives that improved academic outcomes for all student demographic groups. Previously, Salim served as the Superintendent of Weymouth Public Schools for four years and as a senior district administrator in Boston Public Schools for six years where he directed the district’s professional development office and led the district’s nationally recognized teacher mentoring and induction program. Salim also worked as a special assistant and policy analyst in the Office of the Superintendent in San Francisco Unified School District and as a Clinical Faculty member for Boston College’s Lynch School of Education. He is a Past-President and Board Trustee of Learning Forward, the international association for professional development, and was an Education Ventures Fellow at the Kauffman Foundation, where he co-founded Persistence Plus, a mission-driven firm that works with colleges and non-profits to help students attain credentials and graduate.
