Becoming a Great University: Low Cost Steps for Sustained Excellence in Higher Education

Description:
In this presentation, M-RCBG faculty affiliate and Pforzheimer Professor of Teaching and Learning Richard Light will build on the theme that America has hundreds of “quite good” universities – yet a far smaller number can realistically be called “great.” Light will offer eight no-cost or truly low-cost recommendations, that ANY college or university can implement, to enhance their students’ experiences on campus, in an effort to move from good to great. Each suggestion is concrete and specific. Plus each recommendation that Light makes has been actually tried and implemented at one or several campuses, with great success. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion about the feasibility and value of these eight recommendations.
