Community-based Programs:
Brandywyne Tutors – 4X-week afterschool education program in which Harvard students provide youth in a mixed-income housing community with homework help, educational mentoring, and enrichment opportunities. School-based Programs:
Counseling and Educational Mentoring – Interns from the Risk & Prevention Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education work in two Boston Public Schools to promote the educational advancement and psychosocial development of elementary and middle school students.
Research-based Programs:
Girls’ Initiative – A comparative examination of five programs involving different processes for promoting girls’ development.
National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) – A multi-year study investigating how and why a youth entrepreneurship program like NFTE can facilitate a range of academic and developmental outcomes for students.
Program for Young Negotiators – A study of negotiation training for middle and high school students in Latin America.
Search Institute – An investigation of the processes by which communities across the country are using Search Institute’s Developmental Assets model to restructure their approaches to supporting the healthy development of children and youth.
Eckerd Youth Alternatives – A study of the Second Step conflict resolution program as delivered by the Florida-based organization, Hi-Five.
National Mentoring Research – A research initiative aimed at providing administrators, practitioners, and other advocates with answers to some of the key questions relating to the mentoring process and its outcomes. |
