to become a member?
No, you do not have to be a principal.

You may register for any of our programs online from our

 Does The Principals’ Center
give Professional Development points?
Yes. In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Education guidelines
for the receipt of Professional Development Points (PDPs), The Principals’ Center
must provide, and assess, at least 10 hours of professional development on
a given topic in order to award PDPs.
How can I become more involved
with The Principals’ Center?
Being a member of the Center is the first step to becoming more involved. We
also have an advisory board that selects new members each year that help plan
future professional development programs.
What is the Principal Licensure
Strand?
The Principal Licensure Strand is a specific array of courses
and
field
experiences designed to not only meet the licensing requirements of the Massachusetts
Department
of Education but also help
aspiring
principals
obtain
the
skills,
knowledge,
attitudes
and behaviors required of effective school leaders.

Institutes Questions
What should I wear?
Business casual.
Are meals included?
If you are staying at a contracted hotel, breakfast is included every morning.
Morning and afternoon break-time refreshments are provided each day. Some lunches and dinners are included, however each program will vary. You will be informed of the schedule prior to the start of the program.
Can I attend just a few
days of an institute?
No. You must attend the entire institute to gain maximum benefits. There are
no tuition adjustments for unattended sessions.
What is the closest airport?
Boston Logan International airport is the closest to Harvard University. It
is approximately 10 miles to Cambridge and the typical cab fare to Harvard
Square is $30.
What is the closest Amtrack
train station?
South Station, Boston.
 What is the closest public
transportation station?
Harvard Square on the red line.
Is there public transportation
from the airport to Harvard Square?
Yes. You will need to take an airport shuttle bus and three trains and it will
take at least 1 hour.
Will I need access to a
computer during the institute?
With the exception of Data Wise, computers are not necessary to program curriculum. However, as a summer institute participant, you will have access to computers at the Gutman Library on the Harvard Graduate School of Education campus.
What is Project Adventure?
Project Adventure is team building through experiential learning. All levels
are able to participate and it is “challenge by choice”
Do I have to stay at one
of the contracted hotels?
You are not required to but we do encourage you to stay at the hotels. It provides
opportunity to network outside of the classroom setting. Our contracted hotel
rates include daily breakfast and in the long run are less expensive than comparable
nearby hotels.
 Are there dorm rooms available?
No, we do not offer dorm rooms.
When do I find out if I
am accepted?
Early applications will be favored with early decisions. Applications received
after the application deadlines will be reviewed on a space available basis. After the
application has been received, decision letters will be mailed within 4 weeks.
Can I receive Harvard Graduate
School credit for the Summer Institutes?
Yes, you can earn two graduate credits per institute for an additional fee
and upon the completion of assigned work. |
