Books and Course Materials

Gutman Library
Many faculty members place copies of course materials on reserve at the library.

The Harvard Coop
Textbooks are available for purchase at the Coop as are many other school supplies. Students may purchase textbooks from other sources if they wish.

Gnomon Copy on Mount Auburn Street
Useful, reasonably priced copy center frequently used by students for copying services.

Harvard Bookstore (on Mass Avenue on the way to Gnomon Copy)
This is an independent bookstore, and is not affiliated with Harvard University. Required reading texts are sometimes available. The bookstore also has a great selection of bargain books, and an interesting author series.

Places to Study and Conduct Group Meetings

Conroy Commons (Cafeteria)

Gutman Library
Students can reserve second-floor study rooms by signing up in the Gutman Office on the main floor.

Gutman Terrace
Fourth Floor Gutman
Not available for class-sized groups, but a pleasant place to study in good weather.

Read House
There are couches, bright windows and a fireplace on the main level of Read House where students are welcome to gather and study or find a quite place to study alone.

Learning Technologies Center
Students can reserve small rooms in the Learning Technologies Center by signing up in the LTC office.

Cabot Library
Study rooms are available in the library and extended, 24-hour service is available during the days surrounding final exams.

Gutman Conference Center
Students can reserve space in the conference center for meetings with educational purposes.

Harvard Athletics Recreation Memberships
Harvard students are able to purchase memberships to Harvard Recreation facilities. The membership fees are quite reasonable and one of the facilities, the Malkin Athletic Center, is quite close to HGSE.
