The Learning Technologies Center (LTC), located on the third floor of the Gutman Library, is comprised primarily of a General Computing Area (GCA), two technology-enhanced classrooms, the multimedia development lab, video editing facilities, and videoconferencing facilities. The LTC offers a variety of media equipment that may be borrowed by members of the HGSE community. For more information, please visit the LTC web site at http://www.gse.harvard.edu/~ltc/.
Student Technology Services
LTC maintains the General Computing Area (GCA). This is an area open to all GSE students, faculty, and (for special situations) staff. Most of the software required by various GSE courses has been installed on all computers capable of supporting that software, as well as general purpose applications for use by students engaged in graduate study. The LTC also maintains a number of generally accessible computers in various locations throughout Gutman Library and around HGSE. Additionally, students have access to the multimedia development lab and video editing facilities, both located in the LTC. Students receive the Mulberry email client and web space. For more information about student technology services, please visit the LTC web site.
The LTC Help Desk
The mission of the LTC help desk is to provide timely technical support and problem resolution to HGSE faculty, staff, and students. The help desk is the first point of contact for any technical question, problem, or concern, including hardware and software requests. The help desk is located in Gutman 346. You can also reach the help desk at 617-496-0628 or helpdesk@gse.harvard.edu. Staff are available Monday-Friday, 9am- 5pm.
The Multimedia Development Lab
LTC maintains a multimedia development lab, located in Gutman 305. This LTC-staffed facility is available for faculty, staff, and students to work on course-related multimedia projects. In order for the LTC multimedia technician to provide the best possible service to students working on projects, it is helpful for register with the technician, ideally at the start of each semester. For more information about equipment, hardware, and software, please visit the LTC web site.
Media Equipment
LTC maintains a collection of circulating media equipment that members of the HGSE community may borrow for instructional use. For a complete list of circulating media equipment, policies, and loan periods, please visit the LTC web site. To borrow equipment, please contact the LTC front office at 384-7856.
Training
The LTC regularly offers hands-on training for faculty, staff, and students on a variety of software applications. All training is free and takes place in the LTC (unless otherwise noted). In addition, LTC offers "clinics," in which students can bring a specific project/question to a trained LTC staff member at a pre-determined time. For training offerings and dates/times, please visit the LTC web site or contact training@gse.harvard.edu.
The HGSE community is strongly encouraged to take advantage of a variety of face-to-face and online training opportunities through Harvard's Center for Training and Development: http://harvie.harvard.edu/learning/ctd/.
