 About the Gutman Conference Center

The Gutman Conference Center is located on the lower level (ground floor) of the Gutman building. It is the site of many of the HGSE incoming student orientation sessions in the fall. Members of the HGSE community, including students, are able to reserve space within in the conference center for meetings with educational purposes. The Gutman Conference Center web site features the floor plan with many photographs of the space as well as a 360 virtual tour (link is above).

 Interview with Adam Stuhlfaut

Adam Stuhlfaut, Manager of the Gutman Conference Center

What do you most want incoming students to know or understand about the services you offer?

We offer professional conference services to HGSE offices and recognized student organizations at minimal costs. Any event held in GCC space must be coordinated through our office.

What are some of the best-kept secrets about the services you provide?

We are a one-stop conference/event service, ready to give informed professional advice on any aspect of event support. See our web site for details: http://gseweb.harvard.edu/~conf/

Does it cost anything for a student to reserve space in the conference center?

There is no cost for renting space for a recognized HGSE organization. M – F 8:30am – 5pm there is no cost for staff unless the event is complex and requires additional staff.

What are the best times for students to schedule meetings in the conference center?

As far in advance as possible. Use of e-mail requests online are suggested.

For what purposes can students reserve space in the conference center?

The event must be sponsored by a recognized student organization or HGSE department and must be educationally related.

Can students have food in their meetings?

Food in GCC MUST be ordered through our office.

What if students need audio - visual services for their meetings?

AV needs are ordered through LTC on the 3rd floor but we prefer to have knowledge of what is being ordered so that we may make sure that the room set up and logistics support what media technology is ordered.
