Please review the information below about how to post, the process for hiring a student, and handout outlining what it means to be an employer participant. Looking to Submit an Opportunity?

Fill out the Internship Opportunity Form (77KB doc) and e-mail it to fep@gse.harvard.edu. We'll post it online in our database (password-protected for HGSE students). Please submit this form by September 7 for fall internships and by January 7 for spring internships. You can also indicate on the form if the opportunity is year-long.

What is the process for filling internship(s)?

Students are responsible for securing their own FEP internships. They will reply directly to any openings you have posted with us. Some of our students create their own internships if they have specific interests, skills and project ideas to bring to the field. The FEP office and Career Services Office (CSO) are available for guidance and support.

Since the FEP is a for-credit course, students are required to get your approval on the:

• Internship Contract – details all aspects of the internship.
• Learning Agreement– description of the final project meeting S-997 requirements.

This contract and agreement are developed through the collaborative effort of the interns, Teaching Fellows and Field Supervisors and detail the goals and functioning of the internship. Students can access the FEP forms online and are responsible for taking the lead on getting this information completed and approved.

What is the timing for hiring an intern participating in the FEP?

Since the FEP is a for-credit course, students need to finalize their internship plans based on the academic calendar set by the School. Therefore, employers need to let students know of hiring decisions prior to Course Enrollment Day (see academic calendar for fall and spring enrollment days). 

What is my role as a FEP employer?

The on-site supervision provided by the Field Supervisor is a critical and valued feature of the FEP – Please review the Helpful Tips for Field Supervisors (93KB pdf) for more clarity around the nature and extent of support employer participants should plan to provide FEP interns.
