Human activity is organized, and at the same time people change and vary. Over extended periods of time and even from day to day and moment to moment, each individual's actions change systematically as they grow, learn new ways of thinking and acting, and react emotionally. People's activities form coherent patterns, and analysis of those patterns provides the foundation for understanding the dynamics of their stabilities and
variations. Although the variability of activities is enormous and their complexity vast, systematic analysis of structures or organizations - patterns of components - gives scientists the tools for finding order in the variation. This set of assumptions provides the starting points for dynamic structural analysis of the development of human action and thought.
