INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTSThe Harvard Graduate School of Education Admissions Office continues to encourage and welcome qualified applicants from around the world. To help prospective students learn more about HGSE, a contact list of international graduates is available from the Admissions Office. These alumni, who make up the international alumni network, have volunteered to serve as resources for our applicants in their home countries. International applicants must submit all standard application materials outlined in the How to Apply section. All materials must be submitted in English, and applicants must verify the translations by including the original or a notarized copy of the original. All transcripts should show courses completed, grades received, grading scale, duration of study, and degree or diploma received. Once students have been admitted as degree candidates, Harvard University requires international students who need a Harvard-issued student visa to submit financial certification that demonstrates adequate funding for one year of study. To verify that adequate financial arrangements have been made, students are required to submit a letter from a Boston or Cambridge, Massachusetts area bank stating the exact amount on deposit in their name and/or a letter from a funding agency or foundation. Affidavits of supports are not accepted as verification of financial support. This process does not pertain to international students who are officially designated as legal permanent residents (i.e., in possession of a "green card") of the United States. PLEASE NOTE: International students requesting J-1 or F-1 visas are required to enroll full-time.
