The Office of School Partnerships seeks to organize, promote and
nurture collaborations with district wide and school level administrators, teachers and
community leaders that focus on designing and implementing initiatives
that support systemic priorities. Toward this mission, the Office
of School Partnerships sponsors programs at HGSE including: The
Greater Boston Superintendents' Roundtable, The Conant Professional
Development Fund, The Boston Public Schools Leadership Development Network, The Cambridge Public Schools Leaders' Network, and the HGSE Reading Buddies and Lectores y Amiguitos volunteer programs.
In addition, the Office of School Partnerships
seeks to maintain an overview of connections between the Harvard
Graduate School of Education and area public school systems and
to facilitate communications and collaborations. The Office provides
information to area schools and district offices regarding resources
and opportunities available at HGSE, identifies faculty with particular
expertise and research interests, and assists in the placement of
interns and the identification of research sites.
The Office works with other entities at HGSE to compile and indexe a collection of
summaries of research projects, programs, practice and interventions
being conducted by faculty and researchers at the Harvard Graduate
School of Education, often in collaboration with local schools.
The Office of School Partnerships also works
with other existing HGSE and other Harvard University entities to
access resources beneficial to school systems.
History
The Office of School Partnerships at the Harvard Graduate School
of Education (HGSE) was established in 1996 to develop and implement
strategies to link HGSE's programs in teaching, research, professional
development and service to the priorities of area public school
districts. Peggy Kemp directed the OSP from 1996 to 2003 when
she became head of school at Fenway High School in Boston.
