Educational Improvement Project in Lithuania
April 2004-2006

The Ministry of Education and Science(MoES) of Lithuania has embarked on a multi-year, multi-faceted education improvement project aimed at increasing educational achievement in lower secondary schools through increases in the quality of teaching, learning and educational management and optimization of education funds and resources. Obtaining these goals requires access to relevant, reliable, unambiguous, and timely data and information. To this regard the MoES has established a Policy Analysis Group and an Education Management Information System (EMIS) Unit. The Ministry has contracted the International Education Group to assist in capacity-building and professional development within these two groups in order to improve the quality of data and information used to support decision making, planning and policy analysis, and monitoring and evaluation.
