HGSE Alumni Council Unveils Plaque Honoring Award Winners

On October 27, the Harvard Graduate School of Education brought together some of its most accomplished alumni for the unveiling of a plaque in Gutman Library honoring recipients of the Alumni Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education.

The HGSE Alumni Council first established the award in 1985 in order to recognize significant service to education by alumni. Last year's recipient was John Merrow, the pioneering education reporter who currently hosts PBS' The Merrow Report. (View a complete list of award winners.)

During her remarks, which came prior to a celebratory dinner, Dean Kathleen McCartney congratulated the recipients of the award for their outstanding contributions to education, noting how they help fulfill the school's commitment to make an impact in the world of education.

The council hopes that the plaque, with its prominent location in the lobby of Gutman Library, will be viewed by students and serve as inspiration for educational change.
