Conference on Culture and Childhood
The Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) will host The Many Cultures
of Childhood: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Socialization and Schooling,
a two-day conference featuring internationally known expert psychologists,
anthropologists, and child development specialists. The conference, which
is HGSE's Thirteenth Annual International Forum, will be held on Friday
and Saturday, February 9-10, at the Gutman Conference Center and in Longfellow
Hall, both on Appian Way in Cambridge. Centered on the theme of the sociocultural
conditions of children with emphasis on psychological educational development,
conference events include:
Friday, February 9

Keynote address by Anthropologist George De Vos: "Culture, Achievement,
