Pursuing Brilliance Across the Pond

One challenge facing the education system in the United Kingdom is that students from non-selective state (public) schools are underrepresented in institutions of higher education. The goal of the Brilliant Club, a nonprofit organization serving England and set to expand into the United States next year, is to widen the access of outstanding students to selective universities, regardless of the schools from which they come. To this end, the Brilliant Club places doctoral and postdoctoral researchers into schools in order to address issues of educational disadvantage and usher the top students into the top universities.

In this edition of the Harvard EdCast, Simon Coyle, COO and co-founder of the Brilliant Club, discusses his organization's international plan to widen access for outstanding pupils.
