Can't be at Wednesday's panel discussion looking at Boston's charter, pilot, and traditional public schools, but don't want to wait for a news story the next day? That's not a problem. As the event is happening, Ed School doctoral candidate Hanna Rodriguez-Farrar will be giving a blow-by-blow account on Twitter.com. This is the first time that an event at the school has been reported -- or "tweeted" -- live. It will center around the recent, controversial study that Professor Tom Kane released comparing charter, pilot, and traditional public schools in Boston.

Panelists at Wednesday's event will include:

  • Tom Kane, professor of education and Economics at the Ed School
  • Chris Gabrieli, chair and co-founder of MA2020
  • Mike Goldstein, MATCH charter founder
  • Ellen Guiney, executive director, Boston Plan for Excellence
  • Kay Merseth, senior lecturer of education and director of the Teacher Education Program at the Ed School
  • Tom Payzant, professor of practice at the Ed School; former superintendent in Boston

The event starts at 7 p.m.
