Harvard EdCast: Giving a Year

Michael BrownCity Year is a national, education-focused nonprofit organization that works in urban schools to help students stay on track to graduate. Corps members serve full-time in schools for 10 months working as tutors, mentors, and afterschool program leaders seeking to improve student attendance, behavior, and performance. has established a long-term impact goal that will challenge the graduation status quo in America, and transform the hundreds of schools with the highest needs. The goal will be announced at its National Leadership Summit on May 15th in Washington, D.C.

In this edition of the Harvard , Michael Brown, cofounder and CEO of City Year, reflects on how his program is strengthening human capital through a year of national service in the education sector.
