The Harvard Graduate School of Education makes a difference through countless
women and men who have dedicated themselves to the task of improving the
world of education. Here are some of their stories:
Maria (Fatouros) Pantazis, Ed.M. '09

Maria (Fatouros) Pantazis is one of ten Fellows in the Harvard University Management Fellowship Program. Working for the Office of Research and Analysis at Harvard College, Maria is developing a web-based Harvard College Fact Book – a publication of relevant facts, figures, and statistics regarding enrollment and registration that will serve as an essential resource for deans, faculty, and other stakeholders within Harvard College. Maria is involved in identifying the content of the Fact Book and in systematizing the procedures to generate the data.

Molly Shaw, Ed.M.'08

Molly Shaw is the Planning Director of the Charlotte Teachers Initiative, which is a new K-16 partnership among the Charlotte public school system, UNC Charlotte and Davidson College. The Institute provides opportunities for professional development of public school teachers and is based on a successful national model that began at Yale University 30 years ago, and now operates in Pittsburgh, Houston, and Philadelphia.

Peter Blake, Ed.M.'04, Ed.D. candidate

Examining why children fight over toys led HGSE doctoral student Peter Blake to spend time with four species of apes this summer.
Blake researches child development using comparative methods, focusing specifically on property and ownership and the psychology of stealing. With both pre-verbal children and primates, researchers can't ask what they think so it's necessary to design experiments that will produce different behaviors and infer the thought process from those behaviors, he said.
