David Gastwirth is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Southern California's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Upon graduating from the Higher Education master’s program, he served as the assistant director of the Hart Leadership Program at Duke University, where he coordinated program administration, curriculum development, and strategic communications for the Sanford Institute of Public Policy's leadership center. "The Higher Education program at HGSE provided me with an opportunity to explore a diverse range of interests on an intellectual and professional level. Coming directly from undergraduate school, the program gave me the much needed flexibility and freedom to investigate the full spectrum of opportunities in the higher education field. Elective courses in education policy, philanthropy, nonprofit management, and urban affairs perfectly complemented the structured, core higher education curriculum."
