Research, Innovation, and Outreach

Research, Innovation, and Outreach (RIO) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) supports the school's mission of identifying and disseminating the most innovative research and best practice in the field, with an overarching goal of improving educational practice and raising student achievement. Situated at the nexus of theory and practice for HGSE and the education field as a whole, RIO is positioned to strengthen the education profession and to help educators better serve the students they teach.

RIO is a platform for a lifelong learning relationship between HGSE and educators throughout the world, including HGSE alumni who wish to stay connected to the School. Each year, the RIO units serve tens of thousands of educators through on-site programs, online courses, and print and online publications. Our vision is that educators everywhere who are committed to creating the best possible learning opportunities for their students will consider connection to RIO at HGSE as a necessary component of their professional experience.
