The HGSE faculty is a dedicated group of researchers, practice leaders, and policymakers who collaborate and innovate to transform the field of education and expand opportunities for every learner. HGSE students work alongside passionate faculty members to make extraordinary contributions to fields and disciplines ranging from early childhood development to leadership and change management to technology and media.
Our faculty investigate the most pressing questions in education, from how children develop and learn, to how technology, policy, and practice can create more equitable schools and systems.

Faculty at the Harvard Graduate School of Education conduct individual projects across research, practice, and policy, collaborating with HGSE students and with colleagues and organizations across the field of education.
Led by Assistant Professor Ying Xu, the lab advances research and design to ensure AI supports children’s learning, development, and well-being.
BE-Lab, run by Associate Professor Peter Blair, focuses on supply-side issues in higher education, the effects of occupational licensing on labor market discrimination, and the link between residential segregation and educational outcomes.
ELLA, led by Senior Lecturer Emiliana Vegas, is committed to connecting researchers and policymakers in advancing education systems across the region through evidence-based research, policy innovation, and collaborative partnerships.
