Greetings Ed.M. Applicants!

Your graduate education is perhaps the biggest investment you will make in yourself.  As you consider your application for admission to HGSE, don't forget that early financial planning is also essential.  You want to get the best return on your investment and by using your personal resources and HGSE financial aid that investment can be extremely worthwhile.  Every student, and every financial situation, is different.  The HGSE Financial Aid Office works to assess eligibility fairly and equally across all applicants, and the HGSE Admissions Office makes decisions without regard to your financial need.

HGSE is unique among its peers in that we offer a need-based grant program in addition to merit-based scholarships.  We offer this program to ensure greater access and promote the diversity that is vital to a place of learning.  That also means more of our students can receive some form of financial aid.  Over 75% of our students apply for and are granted financial assistance, with over half receiving a need-based grant.  While HGSE offers students a wealth of academic resources, we do not have sufficient grant funding to meet the full need of all students.  It is important that you prepare to contribute significantly and make an investment in your future. With prior planning you will enroll at a time that is right for you- academically, professionally, and financially.

Your financial aid package can consist of grants, scholarships, fellowships, loans, or work-study.  When you apply for aid we consider you for all of the aid types available and many students receive some combination of aid types.

The 2013-2014 HGSE Financial Aid Application is available on the Applying for Aid page.  Please carefully read and follow all instructions when completing your financial aid application!  You may find our Applying for Aid audio tutorial to be a helpful resource in understanding the process.

Starting in late February, the FAO will notify you of the items we've received from you along with reminders of materials that must be submitted.  Remember to check your email often in the coming weeks.

External Scholarships & Grants

If you hope to attend a program for the upcoming or future academic year, now is a great time to start exploring external scholarship sources. Many students take advantage of hundreds of external scholarships each year through their employers, civic organizations, religious affiliations or other networks. There are listings of several free website resources that can help make your search easier. External scholarships are a great way to supplement any additional aid you might receive from HGSE.
