HGSE encourages all prospective students to apply for financial aid. Is there a deadline to apply for financial aid?Yes. There are several different deadlines to be aware of when applying for financial aid at HGSE. These deadlines are found on the HGSE Financial Aid Application, which is available on our website in early December. Some fellowship applications have earlier deadlines, so be sure to check the website often for opportunities and deadlines. What types of aid are available?Grant aid ranges from merit awards that are determined through a variety of processes to need-based grants that are based on your financial aid application materials. Federal loans and work study are also available to most students. Admitted doctoral students receive full tuition and fee support for 3 years if a complete financial aid application is submitted, plus a stipend in the first year. Opportunities to earn through various assistantships are guaranteed during years 2 through 5. 25 to 30% of admitted doctoral students receive the prestigious Presidential Fellowship; recipients are selected by the admissions committee on the basis of their application. This fellowship provides 4 years of tuition and fee support, plus a stipend in the first 3 years. |
