Taking TIE to Work:  An Alumni Panel

Alumni panel with Joe Blatt

In early December, the TIE class of 2007, prospective students, and alums enjoyed a stimulating and entertaining panel discussion about careers with four TIE alums:

  • Douglas Kiang, Ed.M. '01, Academic Technology Advisor, Noble and Greenough School
  • Amy Fienup Kramer, Ed.M. '03, Senior Developer, Six Red Marbles
  • Heidi Larson, Ed.M. '04, Research Associate, Center for Online Professional Development, EDC
  • Peter Pinch, Ed.M. '96, Director of Technology for Interactive Content, WGBH.

The panelists presented their versions of "A Day in the Life" – what their jobs are like now, as well as their career paths after studying in the program.  While the panelists work in different settings (a school, a software development firm, a large educational research group, and a public television station), they all shared a lively enthusiasm for their work and their experiences as TIE students.

The panel discussion was followed by a networking reception for prospective students, current students, and alums.  The afternoon started with a panel on the TIE program and the HGSE admissions and financial aid process.

Program Description

The Technology, Innovation, and Education Program (TIE) prepares students to contribute to the thoughtful design, implementation, and assessment of educational media and technology initiatives.  Graduates of the program fill leadership positions in a wide range of fields, including design and production, policy development and analysis, technology integration and administration, research and evaluation, and teaching with new technologies.
