Classroom Tools for 21st Century Skills and Math

David Dockterman (Ed.D. '88) joined Tom Snyder Productions as an HGSE intern in 1982 and never looked back, designing numerous award-winning educational software programs for schools. Now vice-president and chief academic officer, David Dockterman and his Tom Snyder team are developing Egyptground-breaking approaches and software, using research from neuroscience, educational psychology, motivation studies, and more. They are currently focusing on two areas: classroom tools for 21st century skills and math. Two software packages are the result thus far.

Timeliner XE is an all-in-one tool that helps students in grades K-12 conduct online research, visually organize information by creating timelines or sequences, and communicate their understanding in rich, multimedia presentations.

FASTT Math is based on the research of Ted Hasselbring of Vanderbilt, supplemented by the latest neuroscience research on how people learn math. The software automatically differentiates instruction and practice based on each student's individual fluency gaps in customized 10-minute daily sessions. Work in development includes a program addressing the foundations of understanding fractions and decimals.
