Arts in EducationCurriculumExamples of Past Student Coursework: Drama In fulfilling the requirements of the AIE program, students are expected to structure their programs to suit their individual needs and interests, with guidance and support from the Arts in Education office. Summaries of prior students' coursework, outlining their various individualized versions of the AIE program, are available in the “Student Pathways 2005-06” and “Student Pathways 2006-07” lists on this “curriculum” part of the AIE web site. Student : RR’07 Arts-Related Courses: S-300 The Arts in Education (Seidel) S-301 The Arts in Education (Seidel) H810F Children's Literature (Robinson) T203 Creating Community in the Classroom (Kattef) S310C Object-Based Teaching and Learning (Dell) T210T Role-Play as a Teaching Strategy: From Head Start Curricula to Legal Professional Development (Mages) A710D Principles and Policy Issues of College Admissions (Coffin): The only AIE student permitted to take this course, I focused on the admissions process from a fine art student’s perspective, asking what needs to change in the admissions process for more students of artistic talent to be admitted. For my final project, I restructured Notre Dame’s admissions process to let more artistic students in, since they have a new performing arts center. T324 Gender and Education (Luttrell): For our final project, an AIE classmate and I created an ethnodrama from interviews we’d conducted earlier in the semester. I also helped with artistic activities through the course, including role-play activities and Forum Theatre. T131 Teachers, Leadership, and Power: Changing the Teaching Career (Boles): All of my papers were written with an Arts in Ed point of view, including a case study I wrote based on a theater teacher at Boston Arts Academy and a final paper in which I created a 10-year plan for accomplishing school change as a fine arts director.
