Michèle
Genor, AIE '97, is an assistant professor at Teachers College. Genor graduated
with a Ph.D. from the doctoral program in teacher education at the University
of Wisconsin in 2001. "My time at HGSE reinforced my desire to use
the arts in preparatory work with pre-service teachers," she recalls,
and "allowed me to think more creatively about my research."
At Wisconsin, Michele directed that research toward exactly the kind of
work she is now doing on the faculty of Teachers College--preparation
of pre-service teachers to "promote reflection and culturally relevant
practices in urban schools." Now engaged in a collaborative project
with a professor of arts administration, she finds it interesting that
cross-institutional dialogue is "something artists model so effectively."
