If you are planning to drive to Cambridge and have not experienced Boston-area driving, be prepared for a challenge. Street names change frequently and are often unmarked. There is no parking at the HGSE campus, and street parking is limited. For information on parking garages in the area, please see Parking Around HGSE.
From the NORTH or SOUTH
Take Route I-93 into Boston. Exit at Storrow Drive/Cambridge. Follow Storrow Drive along the Charles River about 3 miles to the exit marked HARVARD SQUARE/CAMBRIDGE. (Continue with the "From Harvard Square Exit on Storrow Drive" directions below.)
From the EAST or WEST
From I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike) get off at Cambridge/Allston exit 18 (eastbound) or exit 20 (westbound) and follow signs for Cambridge. At the first light get in the left lane, and prepare to turn left 50 feet ahead. Do not cross the river—turn left just before the bridge. Drive straight along the river through two lights (River St. and Western Ave.) and merge onto Storrow Drive. Go ½ mile to the first exit, marked HARVARD SQUARE/CAMBRIDGE. (Continue with the "From Harvard Square Exit on Storrow Drive" directions below.)
From the Harvard Square Exit on Storrow Drive
Exit Storrow at Harvard Square and turn right onto the Lars Anderson Bridge (which becomes JFK Street). Continue straight through three sets of lights. The next light is the center of Harvard Square—you will be facing a newsstand called Crimson Corner. Bear left at this intersection onto Brattle Street and follow Brattle as it curves to the right at the EMS store. Proceed for three more blocks to Appian Way. The block of Appian Way on your right is HGSE's campus.
Longfellow Hall is the red brick building on the left.
Larsen Hall is the tall brick building across from Longfellow Hall.
Gutman Library is the gray cement building on the corner of Appian Way and Brattle Street.
Again, PARKING IS VERY LIMITED HERE (Read about parking options in Harvard Square).
